Terms of Service
Last updated: 29 May 2025
These Terms of Service govern your use of the Accountingwell website and any bookkeeping services we provide. By accessing this site or engaging our services, you agree to be bound by these terms. Please read them carefully — they're written to be clear rather than impenetrable.
If you're using our services on behalf of a business, you confirm that you have the authority to bind that business to these terms.
1. Service usage
1.1 Acceptable use
You may use this website and our services for lawful purposes related to your business bookkeeping needs. You agree not to:
- — Use the site in any way that violates applicable local, national, or international law
- — Transmit unsolicited communications or spam
- — Attempt to interfere with or disrupt the website's infrastructure
- — Submit false, misleading, or fraudulent information
- — Reproduce, distribute, or commercially exploit any content from this site without permission
1.2 Service access
Access to our bookkeeping services is provided to clients who have entered into a service agreement with Accountingwell. Website browsing does not constitute a service agreement. All services begin only after terms have been agreed and confirmed in writing.
1.3 Fair usage
Our service packages are designed to suit typical small business volumes. If your transaction volume, document complexity, or revision requests significantly exceed what is reasonable for your agreed package, we'll discuss an adjustment before proceeding.
2. Account and access
2.1 Your responsibilities
You are responsible for ensuring that any credentials or access you share with us for bookkeeping purposes are appropriate and that you have authority to grant such access. You must not share our work product with unauthorised parties.
2.2 Account security
Where third-party platforms are involved (e.g. cloud accounting software), you remain responsible for your account security on those platforms. We recommend using strong passwords and two-factor authentication.
2.3 Termination
Either party may end a service engagement with reasonable written notice. Fees already invoiced for work completed or in progress remain payable. Upon termination, we will return or transfer your records in an organised format within a reasonable timeframe.
3. Service availability
Uptime: We make reasonable efforts to keep this website available and functioning. Occasional downtime for maintenance or due to circumstances beyond our control may occur.
Service modifications: We may modify, update, or discontinue features of our services. Where a material change affects an active engagement, we'll give reasonable advance notice.
Geographic availability: Our services are available worldwide. However, certain regulatory constraints may affect the nature of services we can offer in specific jurisdictions — we'll advise if this applies to you.
4. Intellectual property
Our content: All website content — including text, design, graphics, and structure — is the property of Accountingwell and protected by copyright. You may not reproduce, copy, or distribute it without written permission.
Your content: Any financial data, records, or documents you share with us remain yours. We use them solely to deliver the agreed services and handle them in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
Work product: Reports and summaries produced for you under a service engagement are yours to use for their intended purpose. They may not be resold or passed off as independently prepared.
5. Limitations on liability
Accountingwell provides bookkeeping services — not tax advice, legal advice, or financial planning. Our work is based on the information provided to us; accuracy depends on the completeness and correctness of that information.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Accountingwell will not be liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential losses arising from use of our services or reliance on information provided on this website.
Our total liability for any direct losses arising from an engagement shall not exceed the fees paid for the relevant service in the three months preceding the claim.
6. Changes to these terms
We may revise these Terms of Service from time to time. The current version is always available on this page, dated at the top. Continued use of the website or services after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
7. Governing law
These terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law. Any disputes shall be resolved in good faith between the parties in the first instance before any formal proceedings are initiated.
